FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

1. What gauge (or thickness) is the steel?

We typically use 11 gauge steel.   Sometimes if the piece is to be hung on a wall and is quite large - we will go to 14 gauge to help make it lighter.  We can use thinner yet or thicker depending on the rigidity or flexibility needed in the piece!

2. How long does it take to get a custom piece done?

Generally the present turn around is about 2 weeks from date of order to ready for shipping.  Some pieces can take much longer depending on complexity.  Others may go quicker too - depending on timing of our production cycle.

3. How big of a piece can you make?

Our plasma cutter can take sheets of up to 5' wide x 10' long...  - so for ONE PIECE items that would be the limit.  However we can make the pieces such that they can be joined to create an item that is virtually ANY size width or even height.   Our shop also fabricates steel frames for metal buildings - like big girders, beams, joists, columns etc. (www.perka.com).  We have in house engineering and detailing so we can engineer any type of structural piece as well!  Sketch out or describe your idea(s) and send them to us and we will make you a no obligation proposal.

4. What sort of guarantee do you have?

Your 100% satisfaction and nothing less.  If after you get the piece you do not like it... just send it back and we will refund you 100% what you paid us - no questions asked.  Of course if you ask us to make a custom piece - we will give you several opportunities to view the art and approve it before we make the piece.   You will find we are perfectionist at heart and easy to get along with through every step of the process.  Fair is fair!

5. Do you have a lay away type program? I want to order the piece now - but only need it delivered for Christmas or a special event several months away?

Yes - no problem.   We will work with you.   All we ask is a small deposit (20% in most cases) to cover the setups.  Then, when you want us to make it and send it to you, we will settle up then.

6. Is your site secure?

Yes, absolutely. When you enter your personal and billing information at checkout, SSL by Volusion encrypts your order information to avoid the decoding of that information by anyone other than (www.metalartbydesign.com). To check the security of your connection, look at the lower left or right hand corner of your browser window (depending on your browser) after accessing the server. If you see an unbroken key or a closed lock (depending on your browser), then SSL is active. You can also double check by looking at the URL line of your browser. When accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https".
   
7. How and when will my items be shipped?

We generally ship your item(s) either via UPS, DHL, FED EX ground or via USPS - depending on which one serves your area (better).  If you wish to have your products shipped faster or with a different carrier, it's best to contact us through the "Have a question about this product? ASK NOW" link on the product page before making the purchase as we may be able to arrange alternative shipping options. Stock items will be shipped within 1-2 days after placing your order unless otherwise noted.

8. I can't find my registration or order confirmation email, where is it?

Check your junk/spam mail folder. It may have ended up in there. To prevent this in the future, you can add  www.metalartbydesign.com to your address book or safe list. In extreme cases you might have to turn off SPAM filters.
